  • Why So Serious-ly Obsessed?

I've just done my review of the Dark Knight,I feel this is appropriate.

What is with all of this about how people are heartbroken that Heath Ledger is dead?

Will people just get over it already!

    Yes it's a tragedy and a shame.
Nobody should ever die that young and its a shame that his life got cut short.

But can all these crazy fan girls please stop with the 'Oh I'm heartbroken! He was my idol!Vote every other movie on IMDB a 1 and the Dark Knight a 10 so that Heath can keep his throne'

    I mean seriously!

None of you actually knew him personally, you weren't friends with him and you don't understand him or whatever. So why so seriously obsessed about his dying?

It's a sad thing but just get over it.He's dead.Has been for quite some time now.

And if it were you that had died,he wouldn't be spending any time crying over you.

Not that thats a dig at him,I'm sure he was a nice enough person,I don't know.

All I mean is that he didn't know you,you didn't know him so just get a grip!

  • The Dark Knight - Certainly Put A Smile On MY Face

I'm just back from seeing the Dark Knight and I can happily say that it lived up to all of my expectations and more.I was expecting a amped up version of Begins with that extra bit of talent coming from Heath Ledger. What I got however was much more than that

    Acting

Bale - Nothing special here.Monotone voice, little range and the voice he uses when in the bat suit is just hilarious.

Gyllenhaal - Again, not exactly excellent.Though I don't think Katie Holmes did a much better job.I've always thought the character of Rachel was a bit annoying though - indecisive and simply there to provide an anchor for Batman.

Freeman & Caine - Nothing to complain about on both counts,as if with these fine gentlemen there ever would be.

    And of course:

Heath Ledger - Where to begin. If he doesn't get the Oscar for this then something is truly wrong. The character of the Joker,I feel,is meant to be twisted. The very idea of a person who always smiles, even when he's doing the most evil of things,is terrifying and twisted in itself.I loved the fact that Ledger played this as though he were normal. He was doing evil things, but it to him,was not out of the ordinary,it was just good fun.I feel thats what always makes a believable villain. If you're playing a character who does bad things, you don't have to play it as though you're bad, because in your own eyes - you are not.He got the movement, voice and laugh exactly right in my opinion. For me though,it was his subtle use of gestures and expressions that really made this one of my most favourite movie performances of all time. The subtlety and nuance with which he played everything was fantastic and the dark humour he brought to it was utterly hilarious.I was sad when I found out Heath Ledger was dead, but now, after seeing him acting again I am truly sorry that such a great talent has been lost and am thankful that his last complete performance is one which will hopefully be remembered for years to come.

    Script

Slightly repetitive, although in no way disappointing. It seemed that things just went from one disaster of a moral dilemma to the next, but it sure did get my heart pounding. The twists were great and unexpected and the humour well worked in with the darkness.I'm very glad that this film went a bit darker than Batman Begins, even though that was dark in comparison to previous incarnations.I feel that Batman is not your conventional hero,he is not without flaws and he does have a dark side and so it is therefore good that the tone of the script should fit this.Overall this script had me on the edge of my seat with suspense whilst at the same time making me laugh out loud.

    Action

Just as mind blowing as Begins,if not even better. The fight scenes weren't as creative as Begins I don't think, although the stunt work was more interesting.I enjoyed the action though and it didn't feel as though things were just created around making good action scenes.

    Other Thoughts

This film had a great score, though I think in some areas it could have been put to more use.Costumes were made good use of,particularly of course in The Joker's case.Special effects were believable and stunt work impressive.Something that did annoy me though was the sound effects of gun shots and punches etc, did anyone else feel that they were just a bit too loud to fit in with the rest of the dialogue? I also didn't like the sonar vision thing that Batman had going on towards the end.Not easy on the eyes.

    Highlights

Joker - 'I'm going to make this pencil disappear'

Joker dressed as a nurse :))

Christian Bale getting shot [don't worry, the caped crusader doesn't die]

Mob Member - 'You think you can just steal money from us and get away with it?'
    Joker - Yeah.

    Heath Ledger in general.

A certain person not actually being dead ;D

    Overall

My favourite film of the year so far and possibly a new addition to my top five favourite films.I loved it from start to finish and I think it truly surpassed all my expectations. This film most certainly did put a smile on my face

    ......

    Why so serious?

  • Angus,Thongs and Perfect Snogging - Far From Perfect

So this little encounter has been my third trip to the cinema this month. Now,this film contains everything I hate - its badly written, its cheesy, its utterly predictable, the acting is pretty bad and its downright false - but I still, somehow, managed to enjoy it.

The script was a piss take.I'm not sure how English teenagers behave and speak but I'm pretty sure it's not even similar to that portrayed in this film. It has some truly horrendous one liners and cheesy catch phrases are scattered throughout.

It's predictable beyond belief - you'll guess what's going to happen every step of the way.

The acting was nothing special, and infact I think the best performance came from the cat,Angus.

It shoves false ideologies down your throat, which I'm not a fan of - the nice girl will get the guy, even when competing against a girl who's willing to put out at every opportunity - I think not! :))

It's not particularly well directed and I was expecting more from Gurinder Chadha [director of Bend It Like Beckham & Paris Je T'aime.]

However, despite it's obvious downpoints,I still managed to enjoy it.Every girl in the theater was cringing at the same points and laughing at the same ridiculous lines,so I think thats what led to my enjoyment of this outrageous piece.

Although definately not the movie of the summer,if you're up for some cheese and far fetched situations, give it a go.

    Until Next Time

  • Je,I,Me,Moi

I just noticed that I don't actually have any kind of official introduction to myself on here. So,out of boredum and because I like to talk about myself just a little bit,I'm going to do the official intro to me,my world,my friends,my likes, dislikes etc.Not sure where this is going to go.I'm just typing as it takes me so apologies if this lasts....long.I am also not as big headed to think that anyone will actually care, but I just feel like doing this so here it is.My life in words.

    Beginnings

Being the drama-kid that I am I of course had to make an entrance and decided that said entrance should be three months early.Due in December I surprised everyone by arriving on the 20th of September 1992.I caused more than a little trouble and a couple of times people wondered whether I'd make it but hey,I'm a fighter.Lack of a fully developed immune system wasn't going to stop me! :))

    Family

I have two fantastic parents, one irritating though cool enough brother, three lovely grandparents [my mum's mum died in 2000],one aunt on my mothers side and three uncles on my dad's side.I have a total of 3 cousins, all from my dad's side, and loads of second cousins, all from my mum's side.

We have a complicated history and I've never met a high number of the people I'm related to but we are a family none the less.

    Friends

They mean the world to me.Honestly, they keep me sane.I have a group of school friends who I see on a daily basis during school time and almost the same during the holidays.I also have a second group of close friends who I go to church with.

    Schoolies

Kirsty - She's my oldest friend. We were best friends through primary school and shared lots of good times. We drifted apart slightly when we got to high school but then again, most friends do.We're still really close though. We enjoy a lot of the same things and she understands my dvd habit. She's got a great sense of humour and we tend to find the same things funny. She's also good for giving rational and realistic advice. She won't lie to you or try and make a situation sound better than it is,she'll give you her honest thoughts and opinions on it.Which I appreciate. She's pretty special - has a love for fashion and art and a burning desire to go to New York.Unlike some people who are full of big ambition but have no determination to do it,I see her actually achieving what she wants to do in life.I love her for her determination, honesty and humour and she genuinely does bring a smile to my face most days when I'm feeling down.

Gemma has been my closest friend since about second year, though we've drifted apart a bit as of late. But people change, maybe we just don't have as much in common any more. But whatever the case may be,I still value her as one of my best friends and appreciate all of the times she's listened to my moaning about stuff. We share a love of Buffy and I hounded her for about a year and a half, constantly borrowing her videos and dvds until I got my own ones. She's got her own sense of humour, which I don't get sometimes but she makes me smile anyways. One thing I love about her is that she finds the littlest things in life fantastic.Something I wouldn't even notice she'll appreciate.Gemma shares my love of tea and some of our best conversations happen over a cup,or five,of tetley. We've spent many a weekend at Pitlochry having fun adventures and getting ourselves lost.In general we get on pretty well...most of the time :))

Laura - We were friends for a bit at primary on and off. It's not that we ever fell out,we just didn't really muck about with each other. She was really quiet back then.Goodness knows what happened! Now she's the loudest girl you'll ever meet. She is hysterically funny and when she's teamed up with Jamie, there's no stopping it - they'll have you in stitches within minutes.Funny as she may be,Laura's also another good advice giver. She's good at listening to what you've got to say and pointing out the positives. Also, when you're on msn to her, she'll send you countless hilarious videos which I like because youtube is one of my favourite online places to be.She's often at the root of many of the quotes in my monthly round up as she constantly comes out with hilarious one liners and quotes that I find so funny. All in all, she's pretty cool is our Laura :)

Jamie - Only started hanging around with him when we reached high school but I can't imagine it any other way. It just feels like he's always been there with his great smile and overall cheery approach to life. He manages to make everything that bit more positive and he can set us all off laughing with his funny antics.Jamie likes films and he's another person who understands my strange dvd thing. At sleepovers he's always the one up late with me,chatting until the sun comes up about government conspiracies or big brother or just anything in general. When Jamie's not there it really feels like we're missing something. He's like the heart of the operation :] Jamie with his funny fingers, non stop comedy and fantastic hugs is one of my closest friends and I really can't imagine things without him.

Gina - Gina,Gina,Gina! Our resident lawyer and peace keeper.Gina is always up for a bit of good fun and comes out with some hilarious stuff at times.Dancing around to I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor at her birthday sleepover this year is one of my fondest memorys of time with Gina. And before anyone says it - no it was not because of the wine :)). She's another rational thinker who's great for advice. She's also really intelligent and so she's great for helping with school stuff, particularly maths. She helped me revise for my maths exam, well it kinda turned into watching Cruel Intentions but, what we did revise, helped me.She should teach.I swear. She's another one that gives good hugs and appreciates my filmy ways.A great girl.

Churchies [this is only 2/8 of us but these are the pair I'm closest to]

Kelly - I kinda knew her for ages but we weren't really friends until roughly the start of last year. Now it's just another one of those things when you're like why wasn't I friends with this person before now. She's offered me some great advice over the past year and a half, and put up with a lot of my moaning about one thing or another. She's the one I go to to talk about my faith. She always offers answers, doesn't dodge the questions - which I like.Kelly and I have many a long conversation which always comes round to one specific topic :)) She appreciates the value of good tea,in fact she's the tea-iest person I know, possessing numerous tea pots - I am jealous. She's funny, kind, gives good advice and on top of all that - great hugs! :)

Andrew - What to say about Andrew?Well he's funny. It seems I've said that about all my friends,I hang around with a funny group of people. He always has something to say about every situation, usually a something that gets me laughing. He is another one who gives great hugs, and weird as this sounds,I like the way his shirts feel :)) it must be his fabric conditioner or something. He is the guy to talk to about history.Honestly,he knows lots. Its interesting and has on more than one occasion been very useful. He is the co-creator of our 'Forever' actions and I be forever sorry for the time I dragged him up on the stage to do them with me :)) Andrew is my dance buddy too - always up for a wee waltz around the hall. Overall he's more than a little cool :D

If you're not on this list, don't be offended. These are just the people I feel closest to,I still consider other people friends :))

    School

I really enjoyed Primary School, particularly primary seven. My Quallie is still one of my favourite memories. It really felt as though we were all friends.

First two years of high school I hated because I wasn't in classes with any of my friends. Also because some of the people in the class that I done all my practical classes with were just idiots and so our class never got to learn anything and always got held back after school.I had to make new friends which was good because I met some of the people I now consider to be great friends of mines. But I still really hated first and second year.

Third and fourth year were really enjoyable.I enjoyed all of my subjects, particularly drama and media studies. At first drama was a bit scary because I didn't know many people in the class but by the end of the course we were all sad to say goodbye to each other. We had some fun times on that stage and in the props cupboards :)) Cornflakes, pirates, guns, wooden swords, wedding dresses - oh the fun.Media studies was great for third year because we done nothing lol. Then fourth year became a little more stressful because we had to fit in all our nabs and our production but we got it done and production was really fun, although exceedingly stressful.I loved all my other subjects aswell.Prelims went fairly well and exams went ok.I didn't put that much effort into revision to be honest and I have a feeling thats gonna show in my results.

I'm on the verge of starting my highers.I picked Media Studies,Drama,English,Maths and History. Goodness knows why I'm continuing maths,it's kind of expected I suppose.

    Hobbies

I like love am obsessed with the work of Joss Whedon. I fell in love with his show Buffy The Vampire Slayer and from then on have just slowly collected everything he's made :)) I have so far enjoyed Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity and hope that come next year, I will also enjoy Dollhouse [I am so excited about that!]

I also spend a lot of time watching and collecting other dvds.I love buying new films. It's like a fix for me,were I a junkie. I tend to not buy films as soon as they are released, but rather buy them a bit further down the line when their price comes down. Call this cheap, but it means I can get more for my money :]

I absolutely love going to the cinema.I love the whole experience from the trailers to the end credits.

I also enjoy reading.I used to do this more,it was like a bed time relaxation thing for me.The time I used to spend doing that has been taken up more and more now with dvd watching but I still always have some book or another on the go. My favourite author is Darren Shan - I seem to have a bit of a thing for vampire centered stuff don't I? I swear that's only coincidence, I just love the way he writes and love how his stories always center around his characters and that he's not afraid of an unhappy ending. I am currently greatly enjoying his most recent series, The Demonata, and hopefully looking forward to seeing him again at the book festival this year.

Another favourite past-time of mines is to listen to music. I utterly adore good music, and detest any of that 'new' stuff that the 'orange generation' [girls who wear WAY too much foundation so that they look orange] listen to. If it doesn't have actual instruments, its not music in my book. I'm kind of a punk-indie-rocker,although I'll listen to pretty much anything thats got good guitar.Queen are my all time favourite band and I frequently resent being the age I am,wishing I was older so that I could have had the opportunity to see Freddie Mercury perform live. I also often blare the Sex Pistols,The Foo Fighters,Adam Ant, Nickelback,The Ramones,The Arctic Monkeys,U2,3 Doors Down,April March,The Clash,Me First and The Gimme Gimmes,Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch,Guns N Roses,KISS,AC/DC,Katy Rose,The Killers,Stevie Nicks and of course,as any self respecting Brit should,The Beatles.

    Favourites

Foods - Scampi and Chips, Ice Cream, A Good Burger
Drinks - Cold Irn Bru [I am Scottish after all!],A good cup of tea [I am also Brittish :))]
Film - Pulp Fiction [Call me cliched, but Quentin Tarantino writes fantastically!]
Directors - Quentin Tarantino,Tim Burton and of course Joss Whedon.
    Tv Shows - Buffy,Angel,Firefly,Lost,Heroes
    Authors - Darren Shan,Cecilia Ahern,J.K Rowling,Torey Hayden.
    Actors - Johnny Depp,James Marsters,Gerard Butler,Ewan McGregor,Samuel L. Jackson,John Travolta
    Actresses - Uma Thurman,Alyson Hannigan,Amy Acker,Joan Cusack

    Pet Hates

Bananas! They're utterly disgusting and make me sick.
Not to mention scare the shit out of me for some unknown reason.

The tragedy in and of the world. Why do the good people often seem to suffer and the bad people often seem to triumph? Why do things like murder, rape and child abuse have to happen? What is the point of natural disasters?

Bad music!Stuff that has no meaning or instruments is a waste to me,though I quite understand that other people enjoy it.

Greed - If the world was without greed,I swear all its problems would be solved. And I don't just mean greed for money or food, but greed for power, land etc.

Conformity - People should not conform just because they're told to.It takes the fun out of things ;D

Bad Movies - Films that drum fake, albeit pleasing, ideologies into their audiences drive me mad.I hate being lied to and hate the fact that I can come out of a film thats just told me a certain thing looks good and then feel bad about myself because I'm not that way.The fault there may very well be with me but I don't think mainstream cinema helps much.

    Hopes For The Future

Next Few Years I want to achieve good grades in my highers, have a good last year at school then go on to study something film or television orientated at Uni.

Career Well, call me a dreamer, but my ultimate dream is to make it as a movie or television director, maybe both.I don't have to be directing summer block busters or hit long running tv series,I just want to make good stuff thats fueled by the characters and that deals with real life issues.

Travel I want to see pretty much everywhere in the world and eventually hope to relocate to the big bad city of Los Angeles.

Other Marriage is an option, though not a necessity and certainly not any time soon.Kids however, are a no no. I'm sure you'll think that most teenage girls would say that, but I definately mean it. I want a career. If I were to have kids I'd want to be able to give them my full and undivided care and attention.I,however, don't want to do that.Call me selfish but I want my money and my time for myself and/or me and my partner.I want to work for most of my adult life, not raise children. And quite frankly,I'm not down with the pain and the stretch marks and all that jazz.

So thats me in a rather big nutshell. If you've read all of this then go on yourself :)) and thanks very much. I just wanted to talk about myself for a bit, so now that that's over with I'm off to bed to watch some Joss Whedon Work.

    Until Next Time

  • I Am Not My Hair

    It's all about Attitude...

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
"Well" she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today."
So she did and she had a wonderful day!

The next day she work up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
    "H-M-M," she said,
"I think I'll part my hair down the middle today."
So she did and had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
"Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."
So she did, and she had a fun, fun day!

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YAY!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"

    Attitude is Everything!

I seen this over on alopecia world and thought it was fantastic.Such an uplifting and positive way to look at things rather than the pessimistic view I seem to hold.I'm not bald, quite far from it,but I do only have about half of my hair left and so am struggling a bit with coverings.Hopefully come Friday when I get my hair piece that will all change!

  • Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog - Act One

If you don't know what this is - go google it and then come back :)

Ok so first off the DrHorrible website wasn't working. What's a Whedon's obssessed girl to do?Anyway found it on the Whedon blog instead and watched it there. That's not taking away from the purpose of the project is it?

    Anyway,I loved it.

Pure Whedon genius from start to finish. Hilariously funny. And Nathan Fillion is slowly becoming one of my favourite actors - wait for it - maybe even more so than James Marsters...88|- maybe not. But he is fantastic and hilariously funny with the best comic timing of any actor.

Great, great fun.I cannot wait for Act II.

    A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do...

damn you JOSS WHEDON and your catchy musical numbers!

Now,go watch it and see what I'm talking about :b

  • Mamma Mia,Here I Go Again!

Last night my friends and I headed out to go see the film Mamma Mia. Being big ABBA fans we were really looking forward to it. So,ridiculously priced snacks in hand,we entered the screen and sat down to enjoy ourselves

This movie has got to be the ultimate feel good film of the year. It's camp, romantic, hilarious and full of singing and dance sequences that have you singing along and then singing all the way home too.

The cast were great, although admittedly I'm not the biggest fan of Pierce Brosnan or Colin Firth but I did think they fitted their roles well in this film. Meryl Streep was excellent and I really felt for her character when she was dressing up Sophie to get married and singing about how she was losing her.The supporting cast were hilarious - Julie Walters being the funniest. She was just fantastic,my favourite performance of the film by far.

The singing was mediocre. I was pleasantly surprised by Meryl Streep's voice and she done a good job. Amanda Seyfried's voice sounded more trained,if that makes sense, than the others and I think that took away from the sing along quality that the other songs had.The male cast members were ok at carrying their songs. But Pierce Brosnan, well, lets just say singing lessons would be a good investment.

The backdrop of a Greek island was beautiful and added to the magical quality that this film has. Good use was made of the space and there were many breath taking shots included in the film that showed off the stunning beauty of the place.

Overall, this film was most enjoyable.A must for any
ABBA fans and the ultimate in feel good films.Yes it's cheesy [particularly Pierce Brosnan as he tries to woo Meryl Streep with an ABBA song under the guise of a straight face :))], Yes there's a couple of holes here and there. But it's a fun, camp, musical phenomenon and I loved it from start to finish!

    9/10 on all counts

  • The Chronicles Of Narnia:Prince Caspian

I've not written a film review in quite some time. That would be due to the fact that I've not ventured into the cinema in quite some time. But here we go.The new Narnia film.

First off,I really enjoyed the first film. The acting was bearable from the four main characters and Tilda Swinton was fantastic as the White Witch. The land of Narnia was exactly how I'd imagined it when reading the books and the special effects, costumes and make-up created a world that was genuinely believable as the beautiful land on the other side of that oh-so-famous wardrobe.Due to this,I was very excited to hear that a follow up film was being made and was eager to see it.

So,when my friends brought up going to see it,I was all for it.

I can only say I was disappointed.

The costumes were still fantastic, the special effects still fantastic and the addition of Ben Barnes to the cast was welcomed by my lusty eyes.

However the acting was no longer bearable from the four Pevensies.Good performances on some counts but I could do nothing but giggle when Peter yelled on numerous occasions various versions of 'For Drama!' as he charged towards the camera, giant sword in hand.[Although of course it was more 'For Narnia!' or 'For Aslan!' but we all know the real reason behind those slow-mo shots of the now adult William Moseley]

I found the script to be dull and fairly repetitive.

'Oh the bad guys are coming.Oh lets do try and stop them before its too late.Oh we're never going to make it.Oh we lost some fighters.Never mind.Lets go fight the next unbelievable, albeit quite well made battle, lose some more fighters then have a one on one duel to mix things up a bit. Finally lets have one last far fetched battle field jig almost mirroring that of our first film!Yay!Go Aslan!Go Pevensies!Go Disney!'

I found it a dull two and a half hours. The central cast were wooden and showed little range, although Ben Barnes was better than the rest.

I'm sure younger cinema-goers will greatly enjoy this film and find it wonderfully magical. Unfortunately I am only left wondering why on earth they're making a third one.

  • A Bookishly Brilliant Afternoon

Recently I've been trying hard to find a part time job that will fund my dvd addiction and provide me with some money to put away for uni,my trip to paris next year and just for general saving.

Unfortunately I've found that nowhere wants to employ my youthful fifteen year old self.

So, in an attempt to gain work experience and keep myself busy for at least one day a week in the summer,I've started volunteering at a charity shop in town.

It's a branch of the children's charity Barnardos selling books of every kind.

If you don't know me,and the majority of you don't,before I became so interested in obsessed with films,I was really interested in obsessed with books and reading. I'd read anything I could get my hands on. It was my favourite past time and getting lost in a book was my idea of heaven. I still enjoy it,but my time is more filled up with film watching and buying now.

So, this bookish side of myself is getting to enjoy itself in a book store for four hours every Tuesday.

I found out about this opportunity through my mum. She works with the husband of the manager of the shop and she was telling him about how I wanted to get some work experience before applying for a job when I finally turn sixteen. He told her his wife owned a charity shop and had a word with said wife. She said she'd be happy to have me and so now I've got this wee volunteering position.

It may seem like I'm making a really big deal out of this but I had my first proper day there today and I really enjoyed it. The people are really nice and made me feel right at home. I also liked working on the till because hey,I like pushing buttons :))

And I feel good because it's for charity.

    :D

  • Teenagers Scare The Living S**t out of....

    Everybody apparently.

I was on the bus on my own today. The journey was quite a long one so I had my i-pod in and was listening to some mellow music, you know, just a bit of indie.

I sat on the bus for around forty minutes and people came on and got off, and gradually the seats began to fill up.

Now don't get me wrong,I wouldn't be my first choice to sit next to on a bus either,I mean what with the smile and the friendliness, but the bus filled up and I watched people as they got on and scanned the lower deck for spare places to park themselves. Almost every time, and I'm not exaggerating, when they caught a glimpse of me their eyes would almost scream at me that they disapproved of my actual being there. Like I was some stain that should be removed. Nobody sat next to me,not that I really mind about that - I like having my own seat, but the fact that a couple of people actually chose to stand rather than sit next to someone my age upset me a little.

I don't know if its the signature white i-pod speakers that put them off. I think they might worry that I have blaring heavy metal or ear damaging dance music coming out.

I don't know if it's my general appearance, or if I give off a smell :))

But I do think that it's my age.

Nobody likes teenagers anymore. We've been stereotyped as hoodie-wearing, cigarette smoking, binge-drinking,school-skiving,knife-carrying, social misfits who form gangs and are ignorant and have nothing good to offer society.

You can't open a paper without hearing about how good-for-nothing we are. Any report you read about young people shoves them into stereotyped groups set up by our narrow minded and dare I say it,old fashioned, society. The media does not treat young people like people but instead sets them up as foreign creatures who are to be feared.

Perhaps if the media refrained from making us targets of hatred and using the image they have created of us to instill fear in everyone, people would come to realise that there are actually useful young members of society. Young people who do read the papers, who are literate and can hold a decent conversation, who do care about the world and its inhabitants, who do have valuable opinions and who are genuinely more than what they appear to and are commonly thought to be.

I'm not trying to excuse the behaviour of some teenagers today, but I sincerely wish society would waken up notice the rest of us.

  • Paris '09

Ok so me and some of my friends want to head to Paris for a fortnight or so in October of 2009.

I know it's pretty far off in the future but does anyone know the best kind of accommodation to stay in for value?

    Hotels?
    B&B's?
    Apartments/Flats?

Any information or advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

  • At Last!

I got a text from my mum today telling me that my hair piece has finally arrived!

I've been waiting 13 weeks for it when I was told it would only be 6 so I am so happy it's finally here!

I'm going in to get it fitted and styled next Friday.
I can't wait! It's going to be so good to finally be able to move my head and wear my hair down without people noticing that I don't actually have any hair on the back of my head. ;D

So thats put me back up on a bit of a high now :)

  • Reality Check

Ok so although my life is great overall and I have very little to complain about,I've been feeling really down lately.

Call it teenage angst and self-pity but it's making me crazy.

I don't know why its happening. June was a good month. Exams are no more and I'm on holiday from school for seven weeks.

My hair situation [alopecia that refuses to decide whether its going or staying] is driving me insane I suppose, but I'm getting more used to dealing with it now and it's not so much in the forefront of my mind.

I have no clue where I am with God though I'm starting to figure that out slowly.

    I just feel shit.
    No explanation.
I still do that smile like everything's ok thing.
I don't like the attention and questions that come if you don't force a smile across your face.

    Urg.
    I need a reality check.
    Wonder where I'll find it.
Taking a look at the world around me would probably be a good start.

    Yes.
    I'll start there.
    Take in some nature.
    Listen to some music.
    Read some poetry.
    Chillax.
Think about whether I actually have any reason at all to feel this way.

    Yes.
    I'll do that.

    Pointless post.

  • June Round Up

Ok so this is a tad late.June was a pretty good month.Exams were over,I had a fortnight's holiday in Florida and school finished up for the year.No bad points to report other than the hair piece I'm meant to be getting STILL hasn't arrived, despite the fact that I was told it would have arrived by mid-may.So I'm annoyed about that, but all other areas are good.

    Florida

My family's holiday this year was to Orlando,Florida. It was our third time visiting there and by far my favourite of the three trips, even though we didn't visit the disney parks this time round. See my Globe trotting posts for pictures and a day by day break down of what we got up to.

    Films

Nothing of interest to report here. No cinema and no purchases. :(

    Oh no wait,there is.

I seen Armageddon for the first time this month! So:

Armageddon: Far-fetched,action packed and some funny one liners.Enjoyable though not my favourite film of all time.Don't know what all the hype was about to be honest.

    Tv

Lost:The finale was mind blowing.Though I think it might have been at the end of may? It was before my last round up anyways.
Heroes: Kinda missed the whole second half of season two. I'll need to do something about that.
The Big Bang Theory:Missed the last two episodes because I was on holiday!
    Big Brother: Utter rubbish.

    Quotability

    Someone[can't remember who]: Who's Gina?
Kirsty: Gina's Gina. Gina's sister works at our school.

Wolowitz[The Big Bang Theory]: Is it because I'm Jewish?Because I would kill my Rabbi with a pork chop to sleep with your sister.

Wolowitz[The Big Bang Theory]: Nobody ever expects me, sometimes it's just BANG and Howard Wolowitz!

    Kirsty: A little syncy-syncy

Kirsty: Do you wanna go to Macdonalds now?
Laura: Yes! Now you're speaking my language child! :))

    Overall

Overall June was pretty uneventful apart from my holiday. Starting my fifth year timetable was good.
Suspended timetable at the end of term was also good. Got to go on a old Edinburgh history trip one day and visited the castle, the museum and Mary King's Close - which was creepy. Can't imagine people actually ever having lived there. On the other day of the the suspended time table I got to watch films all day. Last day of term saw battle of the bands which was great.
All in all, a good month.

    Until Next Time
