  • Tattoos on Women

Hey all,I was just wondering what you all thought on this issue:

What Are Tattoos Seen As On Women?

I'm not talking about your typical tramp stamps here,I mean actual pieces of art. When you look at them are they taken seriously,or just seen as some stupid girly accessory.I ask because I was talking to my dad about how I wanted one and we were chatting about if I was to get one, what I might get and where I might get it.Then it occurred to me,tattoos on men are often seen as expressions of their inner feelings that they find hard to verbalise,or as symbols of their manliness. On a woman, what is a tattoo seen as? We're pretty good at expressing ourselves in comparison to men [sorry for the generalisation, but in large part it is true] and we certainly don't often desire to come across as macho. So what are they seen as on women?

I'm not talking about the reasons behind people getting them,I mean what do you see when you see a tattoo on a woman, compared to when you see one on a man. Please note,I do realise it is a perfectly common thing for women to have them.I'm just wondering how they are seen.

  • The Silence of The Lambs

Ok so I just watched this film for the first time and I'm currently wondering why it's taken me so long to do so.Here's my thoughts on this fantastic film.

First off lets talk Hopkins. What a performance.Utterly mind blowing,he terrified me,made me sympathetic and made me laugh in equal part, often all at once. His eyes said it all for me,and its impressive when that can be the case.Just truly great.

Now then,Jodie Foster.I am not a fan of hers, but she did do well here.Whilst I can picture other actresses pulling off the role, she certainly delivered the complicated character with depth and pulled off good emotion.Overall,I probably wouldn't have said it was award-worthy,but certainly very good.

Anthony Hopkins' performance aside, the thing I loved best about this was the work of director,Jonathan Demme.I noticed that a high amount of this film, aside from of course what is neccessary in establishing location etc,was shot in close up.This led to extreme tension, and all of my attention being focussed on the screen due to the claustrophobia it created.Truly great stuff and I think of all the Oscars it won, this was perhaps the most deserving (or at least tied with Best Actor). The use of camera can be seen as very symbolic, but I won't go into all that on this post,I'll save it for the guys who'll argue it with me on IMDB :)) Really, really good.

Story was perfect - keeping you hooked from beginning to end.The twists were well devised, not at all hinted at and made me laugh at points.

Finally, the ending just summed this up entirely for me.A manic and humerous movie,at times in almost equal parts, and one which I no doubt will be adding to my collection in the near, near future.
